TOPICS

Celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new message of, "Challenge! Aiming to
better people`s lives and create a low-carbon society."

CEATEC JAPAN will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Boasting an
over fifty-year history beginning with the first Television and Radio Parts Show
in 1958, predecessor of the Japan Electronics Show, the 2000 integration with
COM JAPAN to create CEATEC JAPAN represented an important step forward for this
comprehensive trade show.

And in commemoration of CEATEC JAPAN`s 10th anniversary, the Organizing
Committee has created a new message, "Challenge! Aiming to better people`s lives
and create a low-carbon society", to highlight the measures being taken to
combat global warming as well as activities of the IT & electronics industry in
relation to the "Green IT" theme. And as a special event this year, the
Organizing Committee will work together with NEDO (New Energy and Industrial
Technology Development Organization) to establish the Green IT Pavilion to
introduce the latest leading-edge energy conservation technologies of Japan,
which has become a leading force in the world for the creation of a low-carbon
society.

The Green IT Awards 2009 event will be held to award outstanding Green IT
products and introduce energy conservation technologies from various
corporations. A symposium will be held simultaneously with this event and an
international conference, which will invite government officials and Green IT
related personnel from Asian countries to participate, will also be held in
commemoration of CEATEC JAPAN`s 10th anniversary.

Newsworthy keynote speeches and guest speakers from overseas

Newsworthy speeches and messages about topics of interest will be presented to
the world from a number of speakers, starting from Tuesday October 6th with
President Fumio Ohtsubo of Panasonic, President and CEO Katsumasa Shinozuka of
Oki Electric Industry, and President Shigefumi Wada of OBIC Business
Consultants, as well as other key individuals of the industry for four days
until Friday, October 9th, 2009.

At this year`s event, conferences and discussions to commemorate the 10th
anniversary such as a panel discussion on the theme of electric-powered vehicles
are being highly anticipated. What`s more, the Green IT Symposium will be held
inside of the CEATEC JAPAN venue, where lectures by government and research
organizations on topics such as the latest Green IT trends overseas will be
presented.

Various seminars will be held including Special Sessions, Trend Sessions, and
Advanced Sessions, where the latest industry trends can be reviewed. Technology
seminars with themes such as Software & Solutions, Information Systems,
Communications Networks, and the Exhibitor Seminar, where exhibitors introduce
technologies, products, services, etc., will also be held. And altogether,
approximately 150 seminars are scheduled to be held.

High expectations for innovations in video, broadcasting, and communications
technologies (at the Digital Network Stage)

At CEATEC JAPAN`s Digital Network Stage, the high expectations of visitors will
be answered with exhibits showcasing trends such as the continually growing
market and technological innovations of thin-screen TVs moving toward the
complete shift to terrestrial digital broadcasting, next-generation content
reproduction technology useful for various applications, and the latest in 3D
image technology that is expected to rapidly evolve to a practical level and
fundamentally change the way motion pictures are enjoyed.

Other attention-getting technologies that visitors will be able to enjoy include
the viewing of Web-compatible IPTV and related services as well as experiencing
the ultra high-definition theater at the NHK/JEITA Digital Broadcasting Plaza
(tentative name). What`s more, great interest is expected for the
information-communication devices that combine leading-edge technologies and new
infrastructural services. At the HATS PLAZA (organized by the HATS Conference),
the latest in information-communication technologies will be on display and
various network interconnection products will be introduced. Additionally, a
wide range of devices and services designed to make daily life more convenient
for the handicapped and/or elderly will be on display at the Accessibility PLAZA
(organized by Inter-communication Access Council).

The next-generation, high-speed mobile communications technologies expected to
garner lots of attention include the WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for
Microwave Access) and the LTE (Long Term Evolution) using the 3.9G mobile phone
standard (3GPP Release 8). The latest in network standards such as NGN (Next
Generation Network), PLC (Power Line Communication) and DLNA (Digital Living
Network Alliance) will also be on display to allow visitors to get hands-on
experience.

Take full advantage of business opportunities offered by world-class
technologies such as Japan`s Monozukuri (at the Electronic Components, Devices &
Industrial Equipment Stage)

Electronic components and devices that support the rapid growth and development
in digital information applications, car electronics, amusement equipment,
mobile PCs, mobile phones, communications networks, etc., will be on display at
the Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage. Helping to
realize trend-setting products that are smaller and slimmer, high-performance or
low-profile parts and cutting-edge technologies, as well as a host of other
electronics technologies used in a wide variety of industrial fields will be
introduced. Technologies used by both the automotive and construction industries
that realize carbon dioxide emission reductions and offer increased
heat-resistance and high durability will also be displayed.

The Electronic Components, Devices & Industrial Equipment Stage at CEATEC JAPAN
is where world-class technologies such as Japan`s Monozukuri can be seen at one
location and it represents an excellent venue for creating business
opportunities. This stage will also help to enhance the promotion of the IT &
electronics industry to local governments throughout the country, while exhibits
at the NIPPON Innovation Plaza will introduce local corporations and create a
new meeting place for business transactions.

Experience the new world of content and services

Digital products connect to networks through digital convergence, while content
and service help to expand markets through platforming and in light of these
developments, the Life Contents Frontier (a part of METI`s 2008 International
Contents Market Reinforcement Activities) will showcase the growing role that
content is playing in communications between people.

The Content Experience Zone will also enable visitors to experience different
ways of enjoying media centering on movies, 3D movies, and music entertainment
software as well as IPTV, Blu-ray, and more. Additionally, a "listening room"
will be made available to allow visitors to experience superior sound
reproduction, which is an important aspect of video content.

CEATEC JAPAN will further strengthen its status as a business tradeshow

Significant growth in a number of diverse technological fields has lead JEMA
(The Japan Electrical Manufacturers` Association) and JBMIA (Japan Business
Machine and Information System Industries Association) to participate in CEATEC
JAPAN as associate support organizations. Invitations provided to visitors by a
variety of organizations and industry-related companies will further strengthen
CEATEC JAPAN`s relationship with business users. By selecting stimulating themes
and actively promoting the distribution of information as well as holding new
Technical Seminars that correspond to the selected themes during the show, it is
anticipated that more engineers will visit CEATEC JAPAN.

Entry fee not necessary for visitors on Saturday (October 10th)

As there was a significant increase in requests to hold the show on a Saturday,
this year`s CEATEC JAPAN will be open on that day to accommodate those who are
too busy to attend the show on weekdays, or who may have already visited once
but want to repeat the experience. And to make things more convenient, there
will be no entry fee on Saturday, October 10th.

CEATEC JAPAN will provide interesting events to encourage children and students
who make up the next generation of visitors to participate. These events include
the Junior & Kids Electronics Workshop, Cross-sector Work and Research Support
Event for Students, and other numerous events held at exhibitor booths, making
the show family friendly for all visitors.
